Do you notice it as much as I do? When I'm having a conversation I start to count the like's, but get lost quickly.
Last night Nathan was telling me a story. It was one for the books.
Nathan: Mom. Trace (a boy in his class) and his brother, Jordan, got in a fight at school. You should have heard them. You wouldn't believe your ears.
Me: Really? What happened?
Nathan: Trace was like "Shut up!" and then Jordan was like "Shut up, shut up". Then Trace was like "SHUT! UP!" and Jordan was like "YOU shut up". Then Jordan was like - I mean Trace was like "SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP." Can you believe that?
Me: (Think of what I'd look like with brain cells flying out of my ears.....)
Nathan: What does like mean anyways?

ReplyDeletewell it's like this. if you like seriously think that today's kids are like ever going to make something of themselves...they like need a wake up call like so frickin' bad! we never used such idiotic talk when i was like younger. we spoke proper english like ALWAYS!
ReplyDeleteJUST KIDDING!! it drives me batty too. thankfully my kids don't do it though...YET. i notice it in teens so much and i want to say, "IT'S NOT L I K E ANYTHING!"
Haa Haa! I love the picture and I have to agree with you!! The word "Like" usage needs to be downsized that is for sure!! Drives me nuts as well!

How funny and I agree with you? LIKE is used too much because like you know like just because!!
ReplyDeleteMarissa uses it a lot so I really think this is a school thing and all the other kids are using it too.

ReplyDeleteI work at a high school, so LIKE is the least of my worries. You should hear the other words that come out of the teenagers' mouths on a regular basis. (but I totally agree with you)
