In his words

My view

Nathan starting school has been quite an experience. Thursday was the open house for the elementary school kids. I was able to take off work from 10 until noon so that Justin and I could take Nathan to the open house together. We also planned to surprise Nathan by taking him out for lunch where ever he wanted to go. I met Justin and Natey at his school. Nathan was pretty excited. Dawson was just finishing up as we were getting there.

Nathan had a good time meeting his teacher. Here he is with Mrs. Waba.

He was asked to unload his backpack and then find his seat.

After checking out where he'll hang his coat and backpack, we informed Nathan that we were taking him out to lunch. He was so excited that it was his choice. We were on our way. As if there were any other choice in town, right? Without a doubt, McDonald's was his choice. He had a good time playing.Nathan was so happy. He thought that lunch by himself was a very special treat. It was very special.
The night before school, Thursday night, we tried to get Nathan in bed at 9. His normal bed time is 9:30. If you ask him he says it's 9:33. My goal was to have him sleeping by 9:30. We didn't quite make our goal, but we were very close.

That night I kept wondering when I would start to become nervous. When would I start my meltdown? I don't remember what time I went to bed, but I didn't last long in there. Have you ever heard of
RLS? Well, I have it. I was tired and ready for bed, but my legs were hurting and jumping all over. I got up and took some Ibuprofen and didn't get to bed until after 2:30am. I set my alarm to get up at 7:15am. Not the nights sleep I'd planned on. Anyway, we got up, got ready and were off.

By the time we got to school, it wasn't long before Nathan had to line up and go inside with his teacher. Not a tear was shed. We both did very well. :)

Being at home while Nathan was at school was very strange for me. Claire got to watch anything she wanted to on TV. She didn't seem to be phased one way or another.

I took Claire and Jack with me to pick Nathan up from school. It was exciting to see him coming out of the school. I have more to say on the subject, but I'll save it for the video blog.

Nathan had a good first day of school. I couldn't have asked for more.

You can be so proud of that little guy! He's so stinkin' cute! Good job Mom. You did way better than I did with my first child. I cried on the way home with my last daughter and then wondered what I was crying for...she was soooo ready to go!
Hurray for growing up...I guess :/

The first day of school for your first child is always a "BIG" day.

I'm glad both of you did well.

OK, I just got a chance to watch Nathan...he seems so tired. Kindergarten must be a lot of work because I think it wore him out!!
