PT/OT

Today was our first real therapy session with PT/OT. The appointment was at 9:30. Jack was very tired and didn't cooperate very well with them. They thought he did well, but I think they would say that no matter what.

At our meeting, they only wanted to give Jack services twice a month. Twice a month? Won't he fall farther behind if we only do this twice a month? I asked that they come once a week. Speech will start coming after school starts.

I'll be glad when the testing is done and we can move on. The EEG is not going to be much fun. Oh, let me clarify the tests for you. The MRI of his brain will be done to see if there is any kind of abnormality in his brain. It will show if there is a brain bleed, Cerebral Palsy or Milroy's disease. The EEG will show if Jack has been having seizures or not. For this test, Jack has to be sleep deprived. They told me to put him to bed at 10pm the night before the test, wake him up at 3am and not let him sleep after that until he has the test. I'm going to call them today to see if they were possibly smoking crack when they gave the nurse the prep directions. There is no way that I'm going to be able to keep Jack awake for 9 hours, one of them being in the van for the almost hour trip to Sioux Falls. He'll be sedated for the MRI tomorrow.

I have about a million things that I need to get done today. Tomorrow will be a long day. Jack has to be at the hospital at 12:30. The scan doesn't start until 2:15. I don't know how long it will last, but I'll have Justin by my side so that will help. I'll try to update tomorrow evening. Until then..........

I forgot to say...I agree that is crazy. How could you keep him up for 9 hours from 3AM on. I agree just riding in the van would put him to sleep.

I think they were smoking crack. My 16 month old doesn't even stay up for 9 hours at a time.

Love you and praying for you.

Kerri,
I just caught up on everthing that has been going on with Jack. Hang in there. I'm not a parent yet, but as a teacher, I know how extremely difficult this process can be. I will be thinking of you tomorrow and keeping you in my prayers as well.

Yes. I would have to agree that you are dealing with a crack head. This may top my list of all time crazy things I have ever heard. And living with myself & I, thats a tough feat. :o) 9 month old, 3am, 9 hours....That would be hard enough for me to stay awake. Good luck with that one.

I am so glad Justin is going with you. Hang in there.

No way will he be able to stay for nine hours. I could see maybe letting him sleep an hour and then waking him up for a bit and then back to sleep..you get my point. I would think that he would be sleep deprived and then you would be too. Not a win win situation!!

Good luck and I will be thinking about you guys!!

Hi Kerrie, I'm Tami, Lori's sis-in-law. That's how I found your site. I've been reading about your concerns for Jack. I was reading your post about his scores...I have a little girl that just turned 1, alot of the things they said were his weaknesses are things that my daughter doesn't do on a consistant basis either. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope you find either what's wrong and where to go from here. Or, that you will find nothings wrong and he's fine, just doing things in his own time, in his own way.

If you would like to compare notes on our two little ones, I would love to hear from you. Come by and visit any time.
