Slow...ssss-lllll-oooooo-wwwwwww

When I left work yesterday I had something on my book at 9:30. I don't remember what it is, but it's scheduled for 30 minutes. My guess is a hair cut, but my brain is saying style. I'm not sure.

I should clarify. That 9:30 was the only thing on my book for today.

That's a whole lotta nothin' going on.

HA!

For some reason, that cracks me up.

Word for word

While eating pizza with the family last Saturday afternoon.....

Nathan: I don't miss you when you're gone.

Me: Oh! (surprised and quite honestly a little hurt)

Nathan: I don't miss you because you're always here. (he put his hand on his heart)

I know! Believe me, I know.

Decorating fun

On Sunday evening, the kids and I did some baking. We made a bunny cake and some Easter eggs. I decorated the bunny cake and the kids decorated and then ate their eggs.

Claire, you've got a little somethin' right .........never mind. =)

Here's my bunny.

He was easy to make and quite delicious.

I decorated a few cupcakes too.

Natey enjoyed my design and made a few himself. He was quite proud that he made them exactly as I had. (giggle) Do you see the one with blue frosting on it? He made that one special for me. They're tulips - obviously - (wink, wink). He's such a sweet boy.

Where's Jack? Believe me when I tell you that he tried to help. He, however, got to hang out with Justin while we did our decorating. A couple of times he almost got a hand full of bunny cake, but lucky for me I'm a little faster than he is.

Pictures for review

Here are pictures of our weekend.
Thursday and Friday nights we watched the Bulldogs play in SF at home on TV. Nathan and Claire decided they needed to support their team.

I know - Natey's love for the camera is beyond obvious. Grrrrrr!

Jack, will you smile for the camera?

Thanks!

On Saturday, Nathan went swimming with Dawson. They had a blast!!!

After swimming we met up with Amber and her girls for some supper. We had some time before the game, so we went back and hung out at Tracy's motel room. The kids were beyond silly.

Finally it was time to go to the game. It was so much fun seeing the boys play in the arena. There were so many people - it was crazy! You can't tell from these pictures, but we were at the top of the arena.

Quiet please. They're having a meeting.

Shaking hands before the game is polite. :)

We got beat and it's ok. Before we went into the arena, I said "Either way we've got either 1st or 2nd" which I really thought was great. Last year at the end of our season, everyone though we were going to be crap this year due to the loss of some big players. We did well - Very Well!!!

Farewell for now

Did you think I was saying good-bye to you? Lord no! I was saying farewell to my week long Keith Urban extravaganza. I know that some of you might be happy to see it go....Justin....but before we say good-bye to it - lets watch this......

That was just a small part of 'Tonight I want to cry'. I love that song. I didn't record much because I wasn't sure how I was going to get it off my memory card.

One of my favorite things from the concert we went to in July was when we did the cell phone wave. This time I recorded it for you guys in hopes that I'd be able to show you. Here it is.

We really did have a fun time.

I said it last time and I'll say it again;

Until next time - and yes -

there will

be another

next time!

"Joe"

Here is the conversation I thought I was having with Amanda via text messaging at the concert. My texts will be in pink. "Joe" will be in ...this color. What I was thinking will be in purple.

Having Fun?

Who is this? "Joe"
Why is she calling herself Joe?

Stand up and wave to us. What row are you guys in?

Who is this? "Joe"
Oh! She's calling me Joe. I think she's had too much to drink.

Kerrie

Kerrie who "Joe"
I was getting a little irritated. Why does she keep calling me Joe?

What row?

This is joe and I am at my house...who is this...Kerrie who? "Joe"
OHMYGOSH! I don't think I'm talking to Amanda. But I asked her if this was her number and she said yes. Is she screwing with me?

Joe who?

You tell me your last name since you texted me first "Joe"
OHMYGOSH! I totally have the wrong number. Holy crap! Good thing we decided that we'd stay in one spot. (Tracy took my phone and called the number. A guy answered and she promptly hung up on him.) I still wasn't sold that she didn't hand her phone to someone next to her to carry out the joke.

I must have the wrong number. Sorry.

My phone rang. Caller ID said it was Amanda. It was obviously "Joe". By this time, Tracy and I'd spotted where Linda and Amanda were sitting. They didn't appear to be in on 'the joke'.

What's your last name "Joe"

I'm sorry "joe". I thought you were Amanda. We were trying to find her at a concert.

Its ok...My last name is (given) so there you go "Joe"

So do you know me?
I think Joe might be a lonely fellow. :) Poor thing is probably in his living room giving the nearest window a big wave.

No. I don't think so. Are you from Madison?

Ya I want to Cherter "Joe"
Very confused, I showed it to Tracy. She said "He went to Chester". I had no idea what he was saying. I think Tracy was right though.

Ok, sorry I bothered you.

Naw its cool "Joe"
I don't think "Joe" had anything else going down that night.

Thanks Joe.

Ya "Joe"

At the end of the show, I looked at my phone and Amanda sent me a text during the song that she and I have as a ring tone. Caller ID didn't say Amanda, it just said her phone number - which ends with a 4, not 5. =)

*KEITH*

Believe me when I say that I can understand why one might question seeing a KU concert twice in a year. I get that. However, the only reason I get that is because you really don't know what you're missing until you see it for yourself. He's so much fun to watch. High energy. Fun. Hot. Wait! How did that get in there?

This is my 3rd KU concert and - as I said in my video blog - I'd see him again this weekend if I had tickets.

He played some different songs than before. In July when we went, he was filming a new DVD. I'll make sure to let you know the release date on that. =)
He had the HUGE screen again - which is wonderful. Unless you're behind the stage, you really get a great view. Here are some pictures from the screen. YUM! How did that get in there?

Did I say YUM? Good Golly!

He went into the crowd and gave someone his guitar. HOLY CAT SMOKES! I would have passed out I'm sure. I read that he did that in NY - so I kinda knew what he was up to when he left the stage. These pictures are also from the big screen while he was in the crowd.

Can you believe that? Holy cow! Tracy and I stood there in awe watching while he did that.

Check out these two shots. Love them!

I could go on and on about the show. It was fun. After we left, 3 of us stood by Keith's trailer thing and had our picture taken.

When we were trying to figure out who was going to sit where (before the show), I told Amanda that I could text her and Tracy and Linda would switch chairs. I opened my cell phone to make sure I had her number. I looked at her and said 2*0-***5. She raised her hands and said "That's me". Funny little me took that to mean that I had her cell phone number correctly in my phone. Did I mention that she'd been drinking apple martini's?

When you dial Amanda's number with a 5 on it, you get "Joe". You'll hear that story tomorrow.

Omaha bound

If you're a 'blogger', then you've probably read about my Omaha trip on Tracy's blog or possibly even at Amanda's blog. For those of you who only read my blog - lets get to a recap.

We had such a good time. Omaha isn't that far away, but when you have 4 women chattin it up, time flies even faster. We got to Omaha around 4ish. We drive right by the Qwest Center on our way to our motel. Look at what was outside.

I know! I about had a heart attack too. Tracy whipped into the parking lot and so that I could take this picture. YAY!

We checked into the motel and had a few drinks. Check out Amanda's beautiful glasses.

HOLLA!

It makes me wonder why anyone ever thought of contacts. Fools! :)

Here I am trying on Amanda's boots.

They really jazzed up my sweat pants. I could have worn those boots for hours. Errr not.Amanda wore those boots as if they were a pair or running shoes. It was crazy. There is no way on God's green earth that I'd be able to wear anything like that.

Tracy brought boots too. She later found out that her boots weren't made for walkin'. Her feet started hurting about half way through the concert.

We were all done getting ready when I turned around and realized that Amanda's butt was at my chest level. What the heck? I just decided to use her butt as an arm rest. Thanks Amanda!!

I'm not sure why I didn't take any pictures of just Linda, but I didn't. Sorry pal. :( That sure wasn't nice of me. Double :(.

We had the motel worker boy take our picture. He was quite the sport. Said all of the right things. I told him not to wait up for us when we left. (giggle)

Carrie opened the show. I don't know many of her songs, but it was fun to see her. I told you about the blue dress in my video blog. Here it is:
It was so pretty lit up. Here is another outfit she had:
These are the shoes she wore when she first came out. I think she and Amanda might shop at the same store. She couldn't walk in them all too well. She almost kind of crawled. It made me giggle.

She's such a pretty girl though.

Well, I'm out of time for this post. Tomorrow = KEITH!!!

Potty mouth from the south

I have a high school friend who lives in California. You might have seen Cari comment from time to time on my blog. She and I were great friends in high school. We obviously knew each other from school, but we became friends when she started working at my uncle's movie theater.

She's married to a smarty pants man who works for NASA who's also from Milbank. Does he work for NASA, Cari? I know he does stuff for launches.

She has two children that are in very close age to Nathan and Claire. Gabriel is only a couple weeks older than Nathan and Ariel is a few months older than Claire.

We lost contact after high school, but then at our 10 year reunion we became in touch again and have stayed in touch. She's very dear to me. I know you're reading this....you're very dear to me. :)

She sent out an e-mail the other day telling a story about her daughter. I had tears streaming down my face and asked if I could post it here. Read it for yourself. The e-mail was entitled: Ariel's Questionable Vocabulary.

I'm sorry to admit it, but sometimes words come out of my mouth in times of stress that I am not very proud of. Ariel apparently overheard me using such a word recently.

The reason that I know this is because the other day she dropped something and shouted, "Dammit!"

We were, of course, in a room full of people, and I proceeded to tell her (loudly enough for the rest of the room to hear so they wouldn't think I would condone my child's use of such language) that this is not a nice word and that I do not want to hear her say it again.

Problem solved, right?? Um, no....

The next day I heard her use the word again, so I told her that I knew that she heard me use the word and that it is not OK for kids or grown-ups to say it.

I asked her to help me come up with another word/phrase that we could use instead when we are feeling frustrated. After much discussion, we agreed on "Oh Pickles!"

That was yesterday.

Tonight, as we were grabbing a quick bite to eat at Taco Bell, Ariel dropped her napkin on the floor.

And what did we hear out of her mouth? "Dammit Pickles!!"

It took me 3 whole minutes to compose myself long enough to correct her.

HA!!!!!! Now that's some funny stuff.

Things I've learned about airbrush

  1. It washes off with soap and water.
  2. It sits on the top of your skin and doesn't soak into your pores.
  3. It's much harder to apply than one would think.
  4. Kelly Rippa wears airbrush make-up.
  5. I'm nowhere near as good as I plan to become.
  6. At some point I'd like to get into temporary tattoo's as well.
  7. Airbrush make-up can be worn every day, but my intent is to do it for proms and weddings.
  8. Lonnie's airbrushed make-up lasted all day. My bare minerals was gone by noon.
  9. My mother-in-law was a good sport in letting me put make-up on her. There were no pictures because I don't always like to laugh at my expense.
  10. At the salon, when I feel that I've had enough practice, I'll charge $20 for an airbrush application.
  11. I can't wait for that day. Not because of the money, but because I'll feel that I'm good enough to charge someone.
  12. The make-up I'm using is a silicone base. I learned that the silicone to clean my airbrush with doesn't belong on your face.
  13. I'm glad I learned #12 on my own, and not on a client.
  14. I'm the only person in the town that does airbrush make-up. I think that's fun.
  15. It's flawless. In the picture on yesterday's post, I looked the same as I normally do. The only difference was that 3 hours later, I still looked the same.

An airbrush extravaganza

After work on Friday, we loaded up the family and headed to Pierre. FYI! That's a LONG trip with 3 kids. Wowzers!

Saturday morning I got up early to head to Kadoka. My instructor, Lonnie, gave me directions to her parents farm. We'd be having the class
in the guest house. With directions like "turn left at the balls in the air" and "you'll know you're close when you drop into the Badlands" - my trip was sure to be unique.

I got to the balls where I was to turn left (seriously, when am I EVER going to say that again?) and was driving on a path in a pasture. As I was taking this photo with my camera phone.....

....Lonnie's husband came to lead me to where I was supposed to be. I was literally driving through the Badlands. There are mountain type structures like this in their pasture. It was crazy to me.

We went 2 1/2 miles on this path. Thank goodness it wasn't muddy. I had to drive around a cow that wasn't about to move for me. Just nuts! Did you click on their website yet? Did you see the cross that they made? Click here to see it. I can't even explain how breathtaking it was to see it in the distance.

Anyway, Lonnie and I got along very well. The class was planned to be 6 hours. However, she has 3 very mischievous little boys who often visited us - usually just needing some mommy love. I totally understood.

They were such hospitable people, so kind and down to earth. I found out that Lonnie's husband loves Keith Urban too. He and I decided that our love for him was a tad different from each other. Ha!

I didn't leave the ranch until 6 o'clock their time. I had a good time and Lonnie thought I was a natural with the airbrush. I felt very natural using it, but she would say "see the make-up before you move on while using large circles" to me and I'd about have a panic attack. What on earth was she talking about??? I knew that the key was going to be to practice.

I asked Justin's dad if he would like to be my first client. He declined. Shoot! I was really looking forward to the possibility. :)

Justin's mom agreed to be my first victim client. In my class I only got to practice on paper. Now I was going to be able to apply it on someones face.

Can I just say that using the word apply really is being used loosely here? After I got done, Justin's poor mother looked like her next step would probably be the morgue. It CRACKED me up. I encouraged her to wash it off, but she didn't because she's a camp. Sharelle, please tell me you washed it off before we were out of the driveway.

I had a lot of fun applying it to her. It's much harder than it seems. I got Sharelle's color too light and that's what gave her the dead pale look. Lonnie told me it was going to be easier applying it to myself and I thought she was crazy. However, I tried it when I got home......

.....and I didn't think it looked all too bad. You'll have to excuse my hair. I washed it yesterday and had it in a ponytail all of today. Focus on the make-up if you will while I, as usual, focus on the hair. :)

One last thing - check out what I woke up to on Saturday.....

I know - it's horrible. How fun though to wake up with a huge lip to meet new people. Sigh! Other than that, everything was good!

Thanks again Sharelle!!!
